Prisons are beneficial
A detailed Summary of Prisons are beneficial
How is Imprisonment beneficial? Who is the beneficiary? These are only some of the questions that come to my mind when you speak of America's Prisons. From my point of view imprisonment can be beneficial to everyone. It's true to say our prison system is not a full proof plan to keep America's worst off the streets but nothing is perfect in this world, but I do believe the benefits of imprisonment far out ways the negative effects imprisonment has on our society.
According to "America's Prisons", a book about opposing view points of America's Prison system, there are four types of benefits to imprisonment: retribution, deterrence, rehabilitation, and incapacitation. Retribution demonstrates to an individual punishment from society. Deterrence may cause an individual to think twice before he commits a crime. Rehabilitation tries to help an individual help himself succeed once he gets out of prison and Incapacitation prevents the individual from committing crimes that he otherwise could commit if

if one-half or one-quarter of the reductions were the result of rising incarceration rates, that would still leave prisons responsible for sizable reductions in crime.I don't think you could say that prisons have little or no effect on the crime rate. Think about this scenario. You're in your parents room. You know you're not supposed to be in there but you're curious you want to know what's in there. One of your parents comes in and catches you looking through there things. As a result they spank you and to further punish you they ground you. Most of the people I know figure out this formula the first time around:
he was on the street or to put it another way "a thug in prison can't shoot your sister".
Unless you enjoy being spanked and enjoy being grounded, you wouldn't go in there again without permission.
Like I stated at the beginning of the essay prisons are not full proof. Some prisoners once they finish there sentence go out and do the same thing they were doing before. Some priso
