Aristotle was a Greek philosopher and scientist who was one of the most influential scholars of his time. He was made many important contributions to western civilization. Aristotle made unprecedented ameliorations in the fields of Physics, Biology, Logic, and Metaphysics. Aristotle’s childhood was not very well documented, but we do know that he was born in Stagira, Macedonia. He was the son of a noble physician but did not share his father’s calling. At the age of 17 Aristotle began studying at Plato's Academy. He stayed there for about 20 years but moved away when his mentor, Plato, died. After marrying, Aristotle moved to the Macedonian capital, where he tutored a young man named Alexander (the Great). When Alexander went about his conquests Aristotle decided to move to Athens where he would start a school called the Lyceum. One of Aristotle’s contributions was Physics.
