I believe three characteristics alienate religions. These characteristics include beliefs, fear, and change.

From the beginning of man there has been some form of worship. Worship of animals, weather, the stars, and things that are untouchable. Whether it be scratches on a cave man's wall or a great contemporary multimillion dollar building. Around the world, we have all seen great loss of life arising out of conflicts of beliefs in religion. How could the worship, of the gift of life, become something to kill for? I believe the answer to these questions are taught from early on in life.

People form some beliefs about how to live life based on their religion. Religion is a man made thing. Thus it is subject to human perception. This is easy to see in the fact that there are so many different religions. So if religion is man made and God is not then they are separate entities. Faith is believing something in the absence of facts, yet religious leaders interpret the bible in ways they speak as truths. Religious leaders speak authoritatively, as if they know, yet the contradiction of having faith is what they say they have.The Bible is very contradictory and even talks

Change is another issue I would like to discuss about religion. Their have been many branches of religion that have been given birth in the last couple hundred years. If religion is evolving and changing, it follows that the same beliefs of the past might not be as accurate as people used to believe. I believe it is a personal quest and their could be as many religions as there are people. Change is the process of learning, and I believe I am a better person because of it. Therefore different views can be scary at first, but using the gift of our brain, we can see its benefits and reassuring quality.

Families have stopped talking to their children because they have married someone from another religion. Psychologists have said that the most damaging form of torture is mental torture. This form of abuse leaves life long scares that never heal. Physical pain heals much quicker and leaves a much smaller scar.
