Today in the United States there are two main political parties. The names of these two political parties are the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. These two parties are very different yet are a lot alike. Both of the parties seek to appeal to the center of ideological spectrum, sure they want to get the votes of there own party members, but there are so many Americans that have yet to decide weather their beliefs are the same as the Democratic party or the same as the Republican party. The Democratic and Republican parties also have broad coalitions of different points-of-view witch means that the center or main parts of the groups think very differently. Although these views and parties were established over half a century ago they are still the main ideas of the party members today because the thoughts and views of the party members have changed over the years to keep the American people interested. Some people also feel like they are a part of these groups at a young age because of there parents beliefs yet most people in the United States do not affiliate them selves with one peculiar party. The Republican Party has a tendency to favor political issues like Pro-business legislation and more emphasis on military spending. They also would like to see limited social welfare legislation, and less support for civil rights legislation
