Role of women in the church
In today’s society the is a debate among several Christian denominations including the Anglicans, Presbyterians and Roman Catholics as to the issue of the ordination of women and the general role of women in the church. There are people in these churches that believe that women should have no input nor any influence in the church and therefore their ordination is something that is by far out of the question. Theses groups take their inspiration directly from the Bible and use it to back their case. On the other hand, there are people in the churches that argue otherwise on the matter of women in the church and believe that women should have equal rights in the church and equal status and therefore have the ability to be ordained. These peoples take their beliefs from the changes in society and claim that some relevance that the Bible has, no longer applies in today’s society of equal rights for women. They believe that society has changed and the Bible was written for a certain society.
