The twenty sixth amendment is simply stated and has no connotations. In other words, the meaning of it is so blunt that there is little or no room for confusion about what it is saying. It was ratified in 1971 and has extended the right to vote to nearly eleven million Americans between the ages of eighteen and twenty. The twenty sixth amendment states that a citizen of the United States who is eighteen years of age or older may not be denied the right to vote on account of age.
