The Three Strike's Law for Juveniles

In The World Book Encyclopedia, Don C. Gibbons states that juvenile delinquency usually refers to the violation of a law by a juvenile (169). More and more juveniles are committing more serious crimes everyday, and most of these juveniles are repeat offenders. Juveniles who break the law three times should have to go to a residential facility for treatment including some form of counseling.

If a juvenile doesn't learn not to break the law by the third time he or she gets into trouble, that juvenile needs to be punished. He or she needs to be put in a residential home where counseling is available. If juveniles had a "three strikes and you're out" law, it would cut down on the juvenile delinquency. When a juvenile commits a crime, many times the youth is turned over to the parents. After breaking the law several times, the juvenile may then be taken to a detention center, where there is no counseling available. Only after exhausting all other possible places for the juvenile to go, the youth i


Naturally, it is the parent's responsibility to shape these youths into admirable, moral individuals, but there are times when the parents need help. That is where counseling should come in. Counseling is available at all residential facilities, and at most of these facilities counseling is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The juveniles at these residential facilities: work, go to school, go to church, and have free time to write home, watch movies, or read a book. Instead of being out on the streets and in trouble, it is better for a juvenile to be in a residential home. While in a residential facility the juvenile will be safe and can also learn that their life will lead nowhere if they break the law. Although many people think that juvenile offenders need to be released to their parents, these juveniles shut their parents out and won't listen to anything their mom or dad has to say.
