Waiting Periods and Bans on Guns
Gun violence is a tragic crime and a growing epidemic that has killed many people in the United States and has to be stopped. One way to stop the majority of gun violence is to put a waiting period on the purchase of guns. The waiting period will help stop criminals such as drug dealers, gang members, and hate groups from getting guns. States such as New Jersey have put in effect a background check before purchasing a handgun, which has stopped over ten thousand criminals for getting guns. There would be a greater public safety if this were done in all the states. Automatic weapons have been banned because there is no use for those kinds of guns in the public’s hand. When waiting periods and bans are put into use this would stop an incredible amount of the bloodshed in this country.My issues on Sarah Brady essay “A Case Against Firearms” are somewhat different then her issues just by the way we look at firearms. Owning a gun is one of our constitutional rights and does not make us bad people or criminals although some people might think it does.
