What would america be like for imigrants
A detailed Summary of What would america be like for imigrants
Living in America offers its citizens more unlimited opportunities than any other country or culture in the world. In most other countries your destiny is decided by the social status of the family you are born into. That status becomes your place in life. In America opportunity is endless, but there is a price to pay for it. In America, happiness has many definitions.
If I were to talk to immigrants about living in America, I would tell them that freedom means a lot to us and gives us the chance to do and have things most other people could only dream about. If we are born poor, we don't have to stay that way. We can improve our lives just by our desire and ambitions to get ahead. We can find happiness in being able to do what we want and what we like to do. In America everyone is suppose to be treated as equals. That is something that our country boasts about, but in reality there are several levels of how people are treated. Unfortunately, our social status and even our ethnic background can play a big part on how we are treated. We don't have to accept being treated unfairly, we have the right to speak out and seek the same equality that everyone else expects. The short cut to this is to

In America happiness usually ties into having money, hence the saying, "Money buys happiness". Americans get too caught up in this. They figure the more the have the happier they will be and they get too caught up in this. They tend to lose the idea that the true sense of happiness comes from within and can be simple. For example, in Singer's essay his parents lived in a simple house even though they had an enormous amount of money stashed away. They were happy to have wholesome food and adequate shelter. In America values are too often replaced by wants. Americans are competitive with each other and always want to be a step ahead of their neighbors and friends. This competitiveness can cut into our values of friendship, community, compassion and be taken over by greed and selfishness. America gives us infinite choices as to how we can steer our lives. That path involves hard work determination and a little luck, but along the way we need to stay grounded as to what is really important in our lives.
Many people may say our streets are paved in gold and we are the land of milk and honey, but we fought long and hard through wars and learned from depressions to appreciate what we have. Since we are a melting pot of many nations we need to learn tolerance and acceptance of different ideas. People need to remember their roots, and the roots of the people around them. One must be careful not to measur
