Where to Point the Finger
Thousands are dying every year because of a growing drug problem in America. We can turn our heads but there is no denying that the problem exists today, not only in large cities but in our own backyards. The question is whether the drugs are the problem or if the prohibition itself is the problem. The futile efforts to ban alcohol and tobacco have kept them legal although they kill more people annually than all of the illegal drugs combined. The drug problem is destroying families and redirecting billions in tax dollars. The hospitals are frequently taking in victims of overdose and drug related crimes. The prisons are overflowing with drug law violators and our streets have been taken over by dealers. Law enforcement officers are tied up with drug problems when they could otherwise be working on murder and rape cases. The list of inherent drug problems goes on and on but are we fighting them in the correct manner?
