Freud split his theory of Psychosexual Development into five stages.They
are: oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital, each occurring sequentially according to age.
The first stage occurs from birth to about fifteen months. A child's primary source of pleasure is derived from things going in or coming out of the its mouth.The mothers breast, for instance, is the child's source of food and is also a source for oral stimulation.
