Industrial Hemp

Industrial hemp is a dangerous drug that should never be grown for any purpose. This is not true, but it's a common misconception among the average American. Really, industrial hemp is not a drug at all, just an incredibly helpful plant.

Industrial hemp is helpful in many ways. There would be many benefits and lots of profits to be made if industrial hemp were legal. Ropes, butter, clothes and birdseed are all products that can be made from industrial hemp. Deforestation and energy problems can be solved with industrial hemp. Due to falling prices of other commodities,it could save farmers from poverty, if it were legalized. Why is it still illegal? Because ignorant government officials do not understand the potential for this plant. There is growing interest in hemp production though. Pro hemp laws have been enacted this year in Minnesota, Hawaii, Nebraska, and North Dakota.

Industrial hemp is the non-intoxicating cousin of marijuana. They are both forms of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant, differing only in the amount of delta-9 tetrahydrocannibinol (THC) which gives the user a 'high'. (McCauley 1) Cannabis Sativa L. is considered marijuana if the THC level is above 5%. The plant is considered industrial hemp if t

Something has to be done to get industrial hemp legalized. The legislature and the DEA are surprisingly ignorant about the differences between the industrial hemp and marijuana. They say that they are both evil drugs, taking and ruining the lives of our adolescents when one isn't even a drug at all. Why is this? We must educate the public and teach our children to have an open mind and to except new ideas even if it goes against what you were taught.

Ignorant government officials are concerned with the problem of marijuana hidden in industrial hemp fields. The truth is, industrial hemp is marijuana's worst nightmare. If a marijuana plant was hidden in a hemp field, cross pollination would render the marijuana impotent.

Industrial hemp is helpful in many ways. It's been around for thousands of years and is used for many purposes. From foods to fabrics, and boards to birdseed, hemp is one of the most versatile plants ever.

he THC content is less the 1%. In some countries industrial hemp can be cultivated with a .3% THC level. At that level, someone could go out and smoke an entire field and get nothing more than a headache and diarrhea. The two plants are also grown differently. Industrial hemp is grown very close together to discourage leafing and budding because the stalk is the most useful part. Marijuana is grown spaced apart to encourage leafing and budding because THC occurs in these areas. Industrial hemp is harvested before it flowers. Marijuana is harvested after. If there is no way to get a 'high' off of an industrial hemp plant, it should be legal to grow for industrial purposes.
