As we head towards the 21 century, technology and medicine improves our life. Technology increase the efficiency to which we do our work, increasing the standard of living. Medicine improves our physical and mental being. But for this to be true we have to add another aspect. Physical activity is also important to our well being. Regular physical activity is one of the best methods of health insurance for individuals. As mentioned above, technology has improved our lifestyles dramatically. Task which took skilled people are now being done with computers and robots. This increases quantity, quality, and efficiency. All this increase our standard of living. Therefore leisure time increases. It is suppose too, but to an extent this is not true. Evidence show that with increasing automation, we are carrying our work home with us. This decreases leisure time, making individuals less active physically. This is a small example of the leisure paradox. Medicine has also improved our lives.
