The Sun 2

The Greeks called it "Helios" and the Romans called it "Sol". We call it, the Sun. The sun is not only the center of our solar system but the only star in our solar system.

Proportion is very important to understand this report, the sun can be called big but that would be a huge under statement for you can call an airplane big. Well this star is "humongously gigantic" if there is such a word because it has 332,820 times the mass of earth and covers 99.8 % of the mass in our solar system. By number of atoms, 92.1% of it is made of Hydrogen and 7.8% is helium, the rest, are just metals which only would amount to 0.1%. This of course changes slowly over time as the sun converts hydrogen to helium in its core.

Differential Rotation, which the sun exhibits, means it has different surface rotation times in different places. For example the sun at its equator rotates o

The surface of the sun is called photosphere and just above it is the chromosohere. The photosphere has "cool" regions called sunspots where the temperature is about 3800 Kelvin compared to 5800 Kelvin on the rest of the surface. Sunspots can be as much as 50,00 km in diameter. Sunspots are caused by complicated and not very well understood interactions with the sun's magnetic field.

nce every 25.4 earth days, but near the poles it rotates every 36-earth days. Differential rotation can also be observed in gas planets and it occurs, naturally, because the sun is not a solid body like earth. Conditions at the sun's core is extreme, 15.6 million Kelvin compared to 5800 Kelvin on the surface and the pressure is 250 billion, 1 atmosphere is equal to 14.5 lbs per square inch. The core's gases are compressed to density 150 times water. Almost everything about the sun is extreme. 386 billion billion megawatts per secon
