Do you love to watch the hard checks that occur in a hockey or football game? How about the fast pace game of basketball? Do you enjoy viewing the graceful passing in a soccer game? Well, if you answered yes to any of these questions then maybe the game of lacrosse is for you. During this presentation I will explain to you many things such as: By whom and when the game of lacrosse was started, what the game meant to the people who played it, the purpose of this game, some basic facts about the game, and how the Europeans effected the game. Lacrosse is the oldest sport in North America. Native Americans played it for centuries before Europeans settled the continent. The Native Americans used to call this game what roughly translates into English, as “They Bump Hips” due to the physical play endured in the game. The Native American sport was played with anywhere from a thirty to a thousand players per side with a field ranging any were from 100 yards to a half-mile long. The object of this game was simple; to get the ball into you opponents net more times then you opponent got the ball into your net. Basically the same purpose as most modern sports.
