Throughout the course of a couple's relationship, the man was constantly in turmoil. The man, Avery, cycled through his emotions and feelings constantly due to the woman, Michelle. Whether it be her actions or her words, Avery would always act in the way that he thought Michelle would accept the most. Avery lived his life on the basis of Michelle's happiness until he went through two weeks of self worth and realization. From that point on, a breakup, a role change, and finally, a balance occurred. Up until it was officially eight months in their relationship, Avery would try to the best of his ability to please and surprise Michelle. He would pick her up for school in the morning a little earlier. He went to her window at night with food that she liked. One time, she was involved in a car accident. Avery did not know if she was all right, but knew she was home. He left his house at 12:30 in the morning to wait by her window and see if she was OK. He was there until eight O'clock when she woke up. Another time, Michelle was mad at Avery for something he did not do and he took the blame. Michelle would get mad if he was quiet or if he chose not to be intimate at times. A few times, she told him she would leave him if he didn't change. He always said he would change for her but never really did. Some time later, Michelle had planned a trip to Florida to visit her friend in the early summer. She was to go down there and have fun with her friends. The night before she left, she told Avery that she might cheat on him in Florida if someone came along. It was during this period that Avery realized that other girls would treat him better. He also realized that he did not need Michelle. When he returned home, he gave Michelle one more chance. He hoped that she would not want him to change and that she would stop playing her games. She stayed the same. Upon complaint afterwards from Avery, Michelle went out again several nights later and did the same thing. This hurt Avery immensely, especially after the second time.
