The declaration of independence of the United States of America and the Declaration of the rights of man are similar in some ways. But they are also different in some ways. They have basically the same message premise, that when men are born they have certain rights, the government is there to preserve those rights and several other things. The main difference is that though they both outline mans rights the US declaration separates itself from a tyrannous government, while the French declaration was designed to go along with the government that was already set up, and they even had their king sign the document.
The US declaration of Independence was written after a prolonged period of tyrannical actions taken by the English crown taken against the 13 colonies. Representatives from all the colonies met an
"He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good."1
"Men are born and remain free and equal in rights. Social distinctions may be founded only upon the general good."2
This fundamental difference sums up the fact that though these two documents are similar they were created for two wholely different purposes. The American declaration was created to start a war of independence from England, and the French Declaration was created to serve as an example as how human rights should be in that country.
