Holocuast Survivors
Considering the harsh and inhumane conditions of a Nazi concentration camp, it is difficult to fathom that even a single prisoner survived the Holocaust. The extreme measures that one had to go though in order to endure the prison life would impact a survivor for the rest of their life, as well as many others who were not even there. For years to come the inhumanity and cruel acts of the Holocaust will affect lives around the world.For those who were not there, the actual realities of the holocaust are often a dim envisionment of what actually happened. This is possibly because many of the events that occurred were so unimaginable and traumatizing to the victims, it is virtually impossible for them to express their emotions to anyone. Some manage better then others and some will have visions trapped in their minds that will be blurred in with their view of everyday life forever. But however a survivor chooses to deal with the issue, it will never heal the scars of the past. Some survivors resort to Unacceptance. Because if the disease, lack of nutrition, and brutal torture was not enough to kill a man, the realization of how he had survived almost is. Some cases of "survivors guilt" can be more extreme than others. They can vary from an individual pondering on his or her existence, to being suicidal in order to stop the pain of guilt. Elie Wiesel himself refers to the Holocaust as " a nocturnal silence which deprived me, for all eternity, of the desire to live." In some way or another, every human being on earth is affected the Holocaust in some way. The effects vary from person to person. For those who have the brutal images branded into their minds for life are probably very fortunate to be alive today. However, it is difficult to be grateful when one can ask him self, have I yet survived the tortures of the Holocaust?
