New world colonies

Political, social, and economic agitation and activity directed against the Jews is known as anti-Semitism. From the time of Noah, till the terrifying destruction of the Holocaust, the concept of anti-Semitism has brought much grief and anguish to many. Although the principle of anti-Semitism has been around for hundreds of years, the historical event that took place because of this principle is without question the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a systematic attempt by the Nazis to exterminate European Jews, and others in WWII. The massacres of the millions of Jews and others, and the attempt at producing the perfect human race, along with all the evil done accompanying these situations should be blamed for the most part on one man, Adolf Hitler.

Adolf Hitler was born in Austria on April 20, 1889. So the true tale of anti-Semitism and the Holocaust begins. Even when Hitler was young his goals were clear, as he read voraciously, developing anti-Jewish and anti-democratic convictions, an admiration for the outstanding individual, and a contempt for the masses. He was also courageous and served in the army in WWI, but did not get higher than corporal. However in 1919 he joined the National

Socialistic German Workers' Party, Known as the Nazis. Being a predominant public speaker of the time, Hitler was successful at recruiting a number of followers including ex-soldiers and unemployed workers. In time his band of followers grew to include some members of Germany's upper class. Promising a strong Germany, jobs, and national glory, over time Hitler attracted millions of voters.

Gradually, the horrific details of the ordeal unfolded, spreading the word of the German barbarism. Journalists and war trials brought about the name "Holocaust." Another term "Genocide" soon emerged, signifying the murder of a population. The extent of its devastation also brought about a new category of crime: crimes against humanity.

Anti-Semitism was the driving force behind Adolf Hitler. It was so much a part of him, and brought out so much hatred toward the Jewish population that although devastating, it is not surprising that after knowing about him he lead this terrible event in world history. Hitler is solely to blame for this massacre of millions of European Jews

The " Final Solution" was mentioned and talked about, but the actual turning point in the war against the Jews was marked on January 20, 1942 at the Wannsee Conference. This was a meeting of the officials responsible for the coordinating the systematic murder operation, the "Final Solution to the Jewish Problem" was formally enunciated. As if the killing before was not enough, it got worse, fast. The first death camp became operational in December of 1941. A machine gun massacre was the usual extermination method for the Jews, while the women and children were exterminated in massive gas chambers. These massive killings were kept secret. The remaining Jews were told that roundups were for resettlement. However, word soon spread that the next settlement was a massive grave.

The start of this plan involved the construction of ghettos around Europe, and the cramming of Jews into them. Few Jews could escape, and for all those that could not, were taken from their homes and packed in the ghettos, and forced to live in brutal conditions. Hunger and poverty were more than evident yet even in these conditions very few, if any, contemplated any form of retaliation or escape as fear was well inflicted upon them by the Nazis. Beatings and random shootings were no surprise at all, especially for the Jews that did actually try to break any of the Nazi rules.

Finally in January of 1945, Soviet troops
