Early Settlers
A detailed Summary of Early Settlers
Life was very hard for settlers and immigrants in America in the 19th century, and even more so for women. They had to struggle through many tough experiences to "make it" in America. Most people lived hard, miserable lives, but some persevered to become wealthy and live happy lives.
Immigrants had to face a lot just to make it to America. Immigrants had two possible ways to get over to America. One way was for a wealthy person to pay their way over in turn for the immigrant to work for the person for a certain number of years. Another way was for people to work and earn the money themselves.
