While she was sick she would videotape herself playing with her puppets and one-day she caught her mom poisoning her food on tape. She tells Cole to go to her funeral reception and find the tape and give it to her father. The family would have had no idea if Kohl had brought the tape to their attention. How Cole knew to get the tape was through his feelings brought on by the ghost.

smates and even teachers at his school. Cole is different then the other kids because he has the ability to communicate and see people who have passed away. An example of this is when Cole attends a birthday party and is drawn to a room at the top of the stairs because he hears voices coming from behind the door. A few of his classmates follow him and lock him in the room, he then begins screaming and banging around in the room. Finally his mother hears him and lets him out. When he comes out of the room he is uncontious from so much shock and is taken to a hospital. While in the hospital, they discover Cole had holes in his sweater and strange scrapes and bruises on his body. The doctor assumes it is something to do with Cole's mother but she did not do anything to it. The marks on his body were a mystery and there was no way to prove what exactly happened, however, Cole believes it was an angry ghost.
