Because I am a white person myself, I see things from a white persons point of view. I see a lot of injustice within society, that the poem explains, but I guess I also miss a large portion of racism because my skin or race does not classify within a minority group. When I read the poem for the first time I didn't really understand it. I initially thought it was a white woman talking, and didn't understand some of the examples throughout the poem. But after re-reading it, I discovered the persona was a white woman talking about the social injustices she sees in society, mainly because of a persons race or skin colour. She tells us that she does not have to worry about numerous problems that coloured people do. She is free to socialise with whoever she wants, because she is white, she is not ridiculed and will not be traumatised because of her race. She explains to us how enforcive positions are mainly played by white people, this shows us how white people dominate within society. She tells us that no matter how poor a white person is, they will always be ric

She shows us how society is shaped and molded to suite white peoples histories. For instance, if she wanted to enroll in a course about her peoples' history at university, it would not be difficult.

The poem is unusual to a point where I thought it is very strange for a white woman to be writing about social injustices. It isn't often we experience this because white people don't usually take the time or effort to see issues from a coloured persons perspective. The persona tells us how she does not have to go through every day difficulties just because of the colour of her skin. She can see the unfairness and racism within society, and understands how unjust it is.
