As a parent, it scares me to think of the behavior, displayed among youth, in America today. Children killing their parents as well as other children, kids using drugs, and blatant disrespect seem to be running rapid among our country's ` youth. I can only guess that lack parental responsibility, public prevention, and dramatization through the media are the three main contributors to children committing crimes. Freewill makes us unique as humans. We can choose to make responsible choices and be accepted among society, or we can choose to break laws and suffer the consequences. I have to wonder what these kids are missing? My guess is that the lack of a responsible role model, is the largest factor for their bad behavior. Monkey see, monkey do! Although juvenile crime is an important issue, the emphasis is weak. Politicians would rather debate NRA laws than discuss solutions for our troubled youth. The topic may be sensitive to many, but we will have to get stronger stomachs and deal with it, rather than ignore it. More tax dollars should be distributed throughout our nation, providing children equal and proactive options to crime. Not only do poor parental participation, lack of political attention hurt efforts to rid our country of juvenile crime, so does violence on television. Violence on television and video games is widely accepted. Do we really know what the effects of this exposure are? Until recently, I have not heard of children going into churches and schools shooting everyone in their path.
