Consumer Guide Laptop or Desk
A detailed Summary of Consumer Guide Laptop or Desk
When you go out and buy a computer you have to make choices to ensure your satisfaction with your final purchase. There are magazines that compare brands, different computers, operating systems, but it seems there is one thing they overlook; which is better a notebook or a desktop computer? Well in order to answer this question you need to consider some aspects that will ultimately drive you to the purchase of your new computer. You have to consider the main use of the computer, price, and the upgrade ability.
To figure out which computer would best suit you, you must first establish the fundamental reason for buying this computer and it's main function as an accessory to you. Are you going to use this computer in school, for work, or for a gaming platform? The main use of the computer will often times be one of the major factors in determining if you will want to buy a notebook or a desktop. Notebooks are a better choice for students and for people in the workforce because it allows them to easily carry their files with them and access them almost anywhere they can use their notebook. Students will find that typing their notes is an easier way of organization; it is harder to accidentally delete a file than it is to lose

So from all this information one could conclude that notebook computers are a better choice for school and work uses but if you were going to be using the computer as a gaming platform it would definitely pay for you to get a desktop. If money is a very large factor in your purchase of a computer and you want one that is going to last you a long while but still want the option of upgrading to newer technology without buying a new computer, buy yourself a desktop, you will be a lot happier in the long run. So you can see that there is a major difference between laptops and desktops in more than their mobility and size.
One major problem with notebooks when compared to desktops is that notebooks aren't very upgradeable. The most you can upgrade a notebook computer is generally the amount of hard disk space you have, the amount of RAM it contains, any external perifals that you get, or a pc card perifal. This sounds like a lot but most of it is just adding on accessories. For instance, with a notebook it is not general practice to upgrade the CPU or the motherboard. Even though you can upgrade the hard disk and RAM you generally cannot get as much into a notebook as you could a desktop. Desktop computers are very upgradeable to the point where you can replace everything in them; even the power supply if you feel it's needed. So if you are looking for a computer that is going to be close to the latest technology and you want to be able to upgrade to new technology go with a desktop.
