MC Escher
Maurits cornelis Escher was born in the Dutch province of Friesland on the seventeenth day of June in 1898. He Lived with his parents, George Arnold Escher and Sarah Gleichman Escher, and three older brothers. His father, George was Chief Engineer for a government bureau. They moved to Arnhem and then in 1917 moved to Oosterbeek, Holland. He started taking private lessons for architecture at the Higher Technology School in Delft. Pursuing a career in architecture, he moved to Haarlem to study at the School for Architecture and Decorative Arts. After about a week there, he met an artist, Jessurun de Mesquita, who saw his drawings. Mesquita and the school\'s director advised him to continue with them. Swiss family took up residence at the pension where he was staying. He found himself attracted to the daughter, Jetta Umiker. He fell in love with her and they decided to marry and move to Italy. They were wed in Viareggio, Italy on June 12,1924. They visited Genoa, Annecy, and Brussels. At the end of 1924, he and his wife bought a house under construction in Rome. The house was finished in March 1925, but they didn\'t move in until October. Shortly after he moved into his new home, his brother was killed in an mountaineering accident. At the end of 1930 on into 1931, he becme ill, and there was a lull in his sale of prints. In a meeting with the Director of the Dutch Historical Institute in Rome, G.J.
