A detailed Summary of slavery


I believe that slavery is wrong and it is wrong but back in the 1800's the economy needed slavery. The northern states really didn't need it because they were business states. The southern states on the other hand were plantation states. They produced most of the food, cotton and other grown plants that everyone needed.

If they had to pay all of the people that picked cotton then cotton price would be so high that nobody would buy them. Slavery was the cheapest way to make things that's why they liked it so much. Nobody wants to pay a lot of money for cotton so they wouldn't buy it and then the cotton plantation wouldn't make any money.
