Texas Prison Escape

A concern that had many Texas residents worried and paranoid about recently was the escape of the seven men from the Connally Unit. The big question in this whole thing was, How did the men escape a maximum-security prison like this? When one is sent to a maximum-security prison evading the place shouldn't ever be a possibility. These seven men made it a possibility. When the men escaped it gave the whole Texas prison system a BIG wake up call.

Many people wondered how these men got out. Well after watching many shows and reading many different articles I learned how they could escape a place like this. These men were know to have spent at least a year planning and making their escape route. It is acknowledged that they had some outside accomplices helping them. The escape happen on December thirteenth two thousand. Texas has a record for the lowest escape rate and the highest return for escaped prison convicts in the whole nation. In the last sixteen years there have only been about two hundred and seventy five prison escapes. There is still only one that hasn't been caught. He's the only successful escapee and he is believed to be in Mexico.

The escape happen at approximately two o' clock pm. All of the


men were in the prison for very lengthy terms. They ranged from a life sentence for capital murder all the way down to thirty years for beating up a child. The individual who beat up a child was only twenty-three years of age. The oldest who was thirty-nine was serving a fifty year sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The men were believed to be having a "picnic" which they are allowed to do when they buy the food from the commentary. They told their supervisors that they wanted to have their "spread" and stay behind in the maintenance department. The eleven employees left six of them alone there. A few minutes later the seventh inmate joined them. As the maintenance workers returned from lunch one by one the prisoners took them hostage. They took their clothes and tied them all up. They also took a guard uniform from one of them. Next the inmates called the guard tower at the back gate from the maintenance room and pretended to be the maintenance supervisor and told them that there were sending maintenance, civilians and inmates to the tower to install video equipment. Then two inmates in civilian clothes and two more in inmate uniforms. They then drove over to the guard tower in a flatbed scooter and overpowered the police at the bottom of the tower. They then went up to the tower and overwhelmed the guards in the tower, where they took control of the back gate and took their weapons. Finally they piled into a marked Connally Unit m
