The Big Chill is an interesting movie about a group of friends and their weekend together. All of the characters meet up due to the death of Alex. They all loved him and one another very much, but it was Alex committing suicide that brought them together. The main question of the film is where did Alex's hope go? He took his own life and his best friends don't even know why.
The editing in this film is superb. The director, Lawrence Kasdan, does some wonderful things in the making of this film. He actually shows the death of Alex, without showing him dying. does this by showing each of them on their way to Alex's funeral. Kasdan reveals some of the characters personality traits and some of their feelings for one another.
The Big Chill contains all of the essential elements of filmmaking. This is shown in many of the scenes, not just the ones that I have talked about. The filmmakers did an excellent job with the use of the camera in giving the viewer the feeling of friendship. We also see each characters
