The old American Dream was a notion that the people coming to the United States hoped to acquire. Immigrants came to the United States of America because they thought that the streets were "paved with gold". The immigrants thought they would come to America and would have instantaneous financial success. Similarly, the people in modern times believe in this intangible idea referred to as the American Dream. People in this period of time believe in a similar American Dream that has evolved from the ideas that existed in the past. The American Dream of 2000 has radically changed from the past ideas and has focused around fame, wealth, and power.

In this modern time, people believe it is important to become famous. They feel that fame will bring them admiration. These people go out of their way to get the opportunity to do something that will give them ins


tantaneous fame. Many people have a desire to be in the public eye. They want to be recognized and well-known. This is why many people work hard to become actors and actresses. These stars are admired by everyone. They make an enormous amount of money as a result of their fame.

People in this age feel that they need power to control and influence things. Individuals want the power to control things that happen in their life. They want to be able to make sure that things in their life go their way in order be satisfied and to have a good life. The majority of the people in the United States also think that with power they can influence everything in order to change anything that is bad in their life.
