Should Drugs Be Legalized
The legalization of drugs is most popular within the teenage age group. Teens today are looking more and more into the topic of the legalization of drugs. This is probably because they are the biggest group of drug users in the country. In a 1993 study, one out of three teenagers, from ages 16 to 17, agreed it would be alright for adults to smoke marijuana. And in the same study young adults ages 18 to 24 also agreed to the same thing. more teens now days believe its okay for them and adults to smoke marijuana. Despite this many teenagers go over board with drug use. This most likely leads to future health problems and other serious problems. Since half the teenage population agrees to smoking marijuana, then we can conclude that they are smoking the drug. Some teenagers believe that A benefit of legalizing drugs is that if drugs are legalized then cops can concentrate on more serious crimes than tracking down drug dealers. This, they say, could make home owners feel safer having reassurance that the police are out there catching criminals, not the many drug dealers that there are today. In addition this would make jails clean of all drug offenders which would make more room for thieves and criminals. This would also prevent t
ax payers from spending so much money on building more jails. We could use the money on education for the kids of America. Parents say that promotion for teenagers should be toward education not sheltering harmless drug dealers. They also say there hard earned dollars could go towards higher aspects, and they also believe cops wouldn't have to die on the hands of drug dealers scared to go to jail for the selling of the drugs. Some people disagree with the legalization of drugs and believe that it could have no positive effect. They believe the legalization of drugs will increase the amounts of users AND A RISE IN THE VIOLENT CRIMES. many AMERICANS THINK PEOPLE WHO THINK DRUGS SHOULD BE LEGAL SHOULD JUST TAKE TIME TO REALIZE THE ADVERSE EFFECTS. IN Europe, when drugs were legalized, showed a rise in users and crimes. Adults believe that drug addicts are dependent on society, dysfunctional and must be watched over. Tax payers say that if drugs were legal then everyone would use them, and this would lead to many people having to need rehabilitation.
