Bombing of Iraq
The bombing by The United States and Great Britan on February 16, 2001 of five antiaircraft sites in Iraq was deep rooted in events of the past. The current most direct reason for the bombing was the defense of British and U.S. planes that were endangered by the antiaircraft guns operated by Iraq. The Persion Gulf conflict more then ten years ago is the main event that allowed this bombing to happen. At the center of all this is the president of Iraq, Saddamn Hussein, who ordered the invasion of Kuwait In 1990 in order to take control of the countries rich oil fields. Saddam Hussein has many of the same drives and charecteristics of past leaders such as, Nepolien and Hitler, but without the large force of people behind him. The current bombing of Iraq included five antiaircraft stations that have been used to open fire at British and American planes. The bombing took place at 12:30 am. in Iraq and all planes took off out of Kuwait. Targets were hit from as far as 50 miles away and as close to five miles from downtown Baghdad. Spokesmen from the Pentigon said that the mission was a success and that all targets were hit. The targets were also choosen as to not have any civilian casalties, althoug
Much of the current tention between The United States and Iraq was cause by the Bush administration and the way they portrayed Saddam Hussein and Iraq. In 1990 then President Bush was quoted at saying, "We're dealing with Hitler revisited, a totalitarianism and brutality that is naked and unprecedented in modern times." These words were the first most Americans had heard about Hussein, so the strong hate for Iraq was planted into the minds of many Americans. Bush also warned his fellow Americans that Saddam would soon try to build a stockpile of nuclear weapons that could be used against The United States. All these actions cause a great bias against Iraq that continues today and fueled the fire to bomb the Iraqis antiaircraft stations. Throughout history nothing has caused more havic and destroction then hate. Hitler convinced all his followers that some people and some races were less then human and that their lives were worthless. When a dictator can plant the seed of hate into the minds of their followers destroction is enevitable. The Bush administration needed to plant some hate into the minds of Americans in order to have support by the people of The United States. The support that was needed was to have the country support whatever was neccessary to stop Saddam, even war. Saddam Hussein needed to plant great hate for Americans in his people, this hate would enable him to look superior and fight with the force he needed. Saddam knew about Hitler and how he was able to control such a large amount of people. History caused him to think he could do what dictators before him were able to do, what he most likley didn't realize is what most people in the current world would do in order to prevent another disaster like that of Hitler. Every little detail about history can and
