Delhi, India is the third largest city in India, surpasses in population only by Calcutta and Bombay. It is located in the upper northwest region of India with the latitude of 28.6„a North and longitude of 77„a. The altitude of the city ranges from 305 to 610 meters and features a hill region consisting of many small mountains and elevated areas in certain part of the city. India's climate is hot throughout the year because the country itself is near the equator. It has a tropical rainy and dry climate during winter season and brings a hot summer. The summer season lasts from March to the end of June, which the average maximum temperature is 36„a C and an average minimum temperature of 25„a C. The winter season last from November to February, with the average maximum temperature of 25„aC and a minimum temperature as low as 7„aC. The area is generally said to be arid to semi-arid. Very much due to the dry climate in the summer, much of the plantations in the area are of thorny trees and shrubs, but most of the areas has been extensively altered by human activities, which also have expanded its range. In fact the tallest and largest plants are probably the Acacia, the Mimosa and the Zizyphus. They might be the predominant plants of India, but they are by far not the most common. Grass is probably the most common of all plant types in Delhi, cover up much of the land. Within the range are the smaller plants consisting mainly of Sehima and Dichamthium. The soil in a Savanna is not the best for anything other than herding, which comes as a surprise to see that India has the lead to so many agricultural commodities. In fact, the area of Delhi is said to contain Spodosols, soils with a subsurface accumulation of amorphous materials overlaid by a light colored, leached sandy horizon. As well as Vertisols, which are soils with high content of swelling clays; deep, wide cracks in dry periods and dark colored. To be more specific, Delhi seems have mostly Usterts of V2 which are soils that then to crack a bit after 90 days and is difficult to till, otherwise known as the black tropical soils. India is considered a country where savanna is the natural vegetation.
