What are geyser and why are they so rare? A geyser is hot steaming water coming out of the ground. Scientist say that the conditions must be just right for a geyser to occur somewhere. There are three thing needed for a geyser to exist. The three thing needed is water, a source of heat (volcanic activity) a things like that, and a special kind of plumbing. Water is one of the easiest to find. Another thing that you need is heat, its a easy one to find too. The special kind of plumbing is hard to find
