In a period of time when the world was still fresh and uncharted it took many proud and brave people to begin the America as we know it today. The legend of Benjamin Franklin is that of one of these brave men who worked his whole life to bring the idealistic views of a world into perspective. He helped create many profound and unique changes to the new world and in a sense became the first American to make an impact on the quality of its life.

Franklin had a variety of talents, he was apprenticed at an early age with his older brother James in a print shop in Boston. A few years after he moved to Philadelphia alone, opened a print shop and became the sole owner and publisher of the Pennsylvania Gazette. He was an experienced man who endeavored to become great in the things he attempted and found himself mastering these trades with great ease.

His ideas were new and fresh, they helped to establish a sense of motivation for the colonies. In 1775 Franklin drafts the Articles of Confederation and in 1776 he signs the declaration of independence.

When words collided about the future of the Americas, Franklin was one of the first to offer his services as ambassador. During that period of time the conditions involved in traveling were harsh and dangerous endeavor. Few people who crossed the Atlantic would ever take another trip back.
