African-American history has involved and many breaded many wonderful and talented people. The struggle and the people have interested me even when I was younger. My family and culture is not African-American. We are from the Caribbean. Our history tells a different story but similar, struggle. Although my culture differs, we understand what it is to be tormented and discriminated on by others, and of our own race. Jackie Robinson, a legendary baseball player, is was and still is an inspiration to many Black Americans. Jackie Robinson was refereed to the “ The Experiment”, to integrate the baseball leagues. He broke color lines in baseball during a time when many whites were engulfed in hatred toward Black Americans and, Black Americans were pushing for change. Jack Robinson was a son of a sharecropper and grandson of a slave. His full name was Jack Roosevelt Robinson. He was born Cairo, Georgia on January 31st 1919. His mother moved the family to California where Jackie began his four-star career at UCLA. Jackie was very talented. Growing up he was very mischievous and got into a lot of trouble.
