Throughout the story " The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" Huck, starts off as a young adventurous boy who as he floats down the river becomes a more mature person. He is able to grow because of the situations that he becomes in placed in. These situations cause him to make decisions in which he is able to learn more about himself which causes him to grow. This adventurous story begins with Huck joining the Tom Sawyer gang were there they are supposed to be pirates. Huck decides to leave the gang because he realizes that it is not what he thought it was when he first joined. Also because he starts to think that the gang is foolish. As he starts to get older he matures and he realizes that kids games are not really what he wants, so he moves on. His next step in maturity is his escape from his pap. This growth was a result of something that was practical, convenient and self-controlled. He does not like the way his father is treating him so he decides to fake his death and gain freedom and independence by floating down the river. Huck is attached to Jim, he cares form him and why he should he turn his friend in when all that is going to happen that he will go back in slavery. Another reason he gives for not turning Jim in is that there is the same "wage" weather he does or does not do so. He figures he will take his chances and help his friend out especially because they share the same dream. The maturity of Huck grows once again because he realizes that slavery is wrong and why should he put his travel companion back into something so cruel and vicious, when all Jim wants is his freedom, which is what Huck is chasing himself. y which is a major cause for growth, in maturity. He now has a responsibility to Jim, his companion, and to himself. Huck Finn starts out as an adventurous young boy who first starts to mature because it was practical and convenient then the reasons seem to change. They change because they now involve his own personal feelings toward certain people, places and things.
