death of a salesman

Was Willy Lowman the average man destroyed by society? My opinion is that Willy Lowman was definitely destroyed by society. Willy was just an average man with an average home, and with an average family. I believe Willy was trying to live up to what society was expecting of him and this is what destoyed him. In a perfect world Willy Lowman's children would be successful as adults and his career would better as time went on. When Willy saw that his path in life was going the opposite way he couldn't handle it. Willy always talked about his boys having these big plans, but when it came down to it they were failures. Their big plans in life seemed like they were going to fall through even before they started them. It's almost like the sons are going to end up like the father.

Towards the end of the play, Biff was trying to tell his father that he was just a very average person with no big plans. Willy just couldn't handle the fact that Biff was right about what he was saying. Sometimes in life things don't turn out the way there suppose to, or maybe things do turn right but different from what that person might want. Whatever way a person looks at it the life of Willy Lowman it didn't turn out the right way in his eyes. Even after Biff explained to his father that he had no big plans Willy wouldn't believe him. Maybe it was because Willy was going mental, but maybe it wasn't.

didn't have the perfect family in the eyes of society. Willy just couldn't be satisfied with what his family was. It was just not Willy's sons that were failures in the eyes of society, but it was also him as well.
