They affect our actions, our interactions with people, they even affect our eating habits. If we believe that it is important to eat well, then we are not going to eat cookies for lunch, instead we would try to eat something healthy, such as a sandwich or fruit. If we believe that the ozone layer is deteriorating because of the pollution from cars, we might walk or ride a bicycle to work instead of driving. The way that I view the world and my idea of what is important might not be the same as my friend's ideas. A very popular, modern belief is that the amount of garbage that is being thrown away is polluting the earth. We also believe that it is very valuable to keep our planet clean and as pollution free as possible. This belief about the world and belief about what is valuable motivates us to sort our trash before throwing it away, it prompts us to take a bus, carpool, or just walk to work and school, and it encourages us to gain knowledge about how we can reduce pollution. Once that knowledge is gained and we realize how important it really is to keep the earth clean, we are compelled to learn how to reduce the amount of trash that we throw away, then we want to know even more about how to reduce pollution and clean up our planet.
