I believe he also wants to show us that there is no point in fighting for your country, if all that is bound to happen be innocent lives are going to be taken. In this poem I have learned that life is extremely sacred, and we should not fight for our country. As there is no point in dying and watching people die, for something they do not believe in. Countries should not use war as a method of problem solving. They should rely on treaties and friendships.
