A detailed Summary of Banned
Censorship is the supervision and control of the information and ideas that are circulated among the people within society. Censorship refers, in this situation to the examination of books in our school curriculum, for the purpose of altering, or suppressing parts thought to be objectionable, or offensive.
Based on the article, "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" was banned because of its poor use of grammar, the racist words, the racial epithets and the racial violence throughout out the novel. I think this quote means if the U.S would have abolished racism and slavery when it first started to rise, this book wouldn't be such a hard book to be taught and read. This book is a hard book to read because it has a lot of slang used throughout it that isn't in school-aged kids' vocabulary. This vocabulary then needs to be explained to them so they will understand the novel. This would also be hard to teach because you would have to ask the students if they would be offended by reading this, and if they are you would have to substitute in "slaves", or "black people". This is a hard book to read because of all the slang used and you have to comprehend all of it, which is sometimes hard.
