This vocabulary then needs to be explained to them so they will understand the novel. This would also be hard to teach because you would have to ask the students if they would be offended by reading this, and if they are you would have to substitute in "slaves", or "black people". This is a hard book to read because of all the slang used and you have to comprehend all of it, which is sometimes hard.
