The two stories I read by John Updike were called A&P and The Rumor.

In comparing the two male characters A&P' s Sammy and The Rumors Frank. I came to the conclusion that they are completely different. Sammy stood up for something he thought was important and Frank came to realize the fact that he is gay, but will not admit that to his wife.
