This main idea of this story suggests that boys are treated unfairly in school these days. There are many stories out there from all different points of view that suggest that their race or gender is not treated fairly in school. Quite often women write stories about how men get paid more, how women are quiet in classroom discussions, and how men always dominate the discussion. Many women have written stories like this. Also people from different races write stories or articles suggesting that they are treated unfairly. One thing that you do not see too much of is men writing stories about how they are mistreated in schools. It is unusual to see a story like this, however the author does state some very good points in this short story. Many of the things that he says are clearly true, many people can relate to what he is saying, and he backs up most of his information with support.
The author, David Thomas, starts the paper out by talking about the common saying that "Men are better in certain subjects such as math, and women are better at others such as writing and English."
He then talks about a few ways that men and women are different from each other. He claims men and women think d

This quote that he uses does support the fact that men and women think differently on psychological terms. However, the fact that males excel at rotating three-dimensional objects in their head does not really support the fact that men do better in math. The same goes for the quote about women in the Time quote. Reading emotions of people on pictures better than males really does not support that they are better than males in English.
Later on in the story the author then talks about how girls generally out-perform boys in the kindergarten and primary school level. He says the reason that the girls are out-performing the boys is because the majority of the teachers are female and they are using gender prejudice and reinforcing feminine behaviors. Unlike the other statements and theories, he uses an excellent quote from Tony Mooney to back this one up. Tony Mooney states, "Women teachers find boys too noisy, too aggressive, too boisterous. Unconsciously or not, they consistently reinforce and reward more 'feminine' behavior. If all this is true, it is understandable that boys should not be as advanced as girls in the hands of women junior school teachers. There is a direct relationshi
