In the play The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, we have a main character of the play, John Proctor. John Proctor is the average Puritan farmer that happens to live in Salem, Massachusetts during the Salem Witch Trials. At this time many people are being accused of witchcraft, even the upright citizens that good Christians. John Proctor eventually is jailed and hung for witchcraft. In this play John Proctor shows an ideal example for Hemmingway's Code Hero. In the play he shows a great amount of pride, endurance, and will to face the many problems he faces that eventually lead to his downfall.
