Saving Private Ryan
Saving Private Ryan is an excellent movie. It gives an accurate picture of what happened on the fateful day of D-Day, the invasion of Normandy. Steven Spielberg directed the movie. He did an awesome job in keeping up with the accuracy and authenticity of the weapons, buildings, and props. Tom Hanks, stars in the movie along with Matt Damon and Vin Diesel, two rising stars. The movie is set on June 6, 1944 on D-Day in Normandy. In Saving Private Ryan, Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) leads a company of Army Rangers in the assault on Omaha Beach. He survives the battle and is assigned a new mission. He and his company must find and return Private James Ryan (Matt Damon) from the 101st Airborne Army Division Private Ryan was the youngest of four brothers who were killed on other fronts of the war. As the company of Rangers move on in the mission to find Ryan the men wonder if all their lives are worth the life of a single man.
World War II was probably one of the most pivotal events in the 20th century. It set America's place in history and in the world. It is sometimes referred to as "the last great war." The whole war began because of the insanity of Hitler and Germany. Hitler wanted to take over the world. He just about succeeded until the nations around the world gathered their armies to defeat the evil dictator. America played the largest role in the event, turning the tide of the war. America battled on two fronts, Japan and Europe. We still won that showed a lot for our country. All the men that fought and died for our country I hold in the highest respect.
