A River Runs Through It

Norman and Pauls relationship is one that is unique and has many hidden feelings. They can look at each other and without saying a word, know what the other is thinking. The friendship between these two is so strong and can withstand anything that tries to disturb it. Each boy had a different relationship with the father, Norman, as an obedient son, and Paul, who tested the limits with his father as much as he possibly could. The boys relationship changed with the times, and Paul’s life style had set his destiny. Their lives were greatly fulfilled, and it is a shame that Paul’s had to end.

Growing up, Norman and Paul were the best of friends. If one lacked a quality, the other picked up the slack, they complimented each other. Norman was a good fisherman, he did what his father had taught him, and he caught fish. Paul on the other hand, “he had those extra things besides fine training-genius, luck, and plenty of self-confidence.” Paul went the extra mile when he was doing things, he figured out his own way to fish called shadow casting.
