A detailed Summary of Masque of the Red Death


In the short story, The Masque of the Red Death, symbolism is used throughout to help build up the interest of the plot and the actions that take place. Poe used the symbols successfully in which the attention of the reader is held and room for interpretation is left depending on the reader's views of the story.

The seven rooms, in my opinion, are a very significant symbol as well as a symbol of many things. The number seven represents the deadly sins, the seven days of creation, and the seven days of the week. The rooms are all decorated in a different color, black being the last and most important, showing the ideas of the sun rising in
