TKAMB vs Witness

The hero in both 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and Witness are used to illustrate the themes in each circumstance. In to kill a mockingbird, Atticus finch is the hero and he is used to illustrate the theme of racism, predujice and also shows that sometimes it is better to do what you think is right and not what others think is right. And also in witness, John Book is used to illustrate the same themes. Another theme they both showed was how people protect others before themselves, this could fit into the category of courage.

Atticus Finch was a man who fought for what he believed in. He stood up for what was right, not what the popular thing to do was. Atticus had a lot of courage to do what he did for Tom Robinson. Atticus was not racist and believed in equality amongst people which would have been hard during those days.

Courage was something Atticus definitely had. He was the only white man in town that would stand up for Tom Robinson because he knew it was


Atticus did not win the case with tom Robinson but he still believed that he was successful. Atticus was successful because he did what he thought was right, and doing that had to help something out in a good way.

The themes that John Book illustrated did not stand out to me as they did for Atticus, and I only gathered a few.

If Atticus Finch ever treated anybody unequally than there was a good reason. He believed that all men were created equal and blacks shouldn't be treated badly for nothing and that even though their skin colour was different, they were all the same inside.
