The statement " Children can see truths to which adults have long been blind" is a very strong statement. It refers to the fact that as we grow older we just accept things. Things like prejudice. As a child we do not understand why certain people are hated just because of their religion or color. But, adults just accept it because it has been something they have come to live with and ignore. Prejudice is a terrible thing that as children we do not understand or accept. As we get older it is just something we accept as the norm and we become blind to something as children we know was not right.

Dill is an example of how children can see truths that adults are blinded to. We see this when he runs out of the courtroom and begins to cry. This is when Mr. Dolphus Raymond is near them and he helps out Dill and he says children "cr


Scout is a prime example of how children don't see in black and white. She asks Atticus what the difference is between whites and blacks. She doesn't see people as skin color. Her simple innocence's in asking this question shows children are color blind. She was raised by Atticus to not judge people on skin color or how they were brought up but to "walk around in there skin" before judging someone. Scout is too young to understand the details of Tom Robinson's trail. But, she knows that something is wrong that the adults, who are supposed to know everything, are so blinded to the truth.

Boo Radley is also an example of how adults are blinded to truths that children aren't. Boo chooses to stay in his house so he doesn't have to deal with the hell adults put other people through just for being different. Scout, Jem, and
