do the right thing

The first scene of the film begins with a zoom out of three things: Senor Love Daddy, a clock and a microphone. The microphone represents the lack of communication in the neighborhood, the clock shows that they are running out of time and that something bad will happen soon, and Senor Love Daddy is the voice of reason. The lighting in this scene is low-key, and there is a reddish color which is present in all four of the scenes, this shows the intense heat of the day. The first thing that he says is "Wake Up" telling everyone that they have to wake up to the world around them, he wants them to see the problems that are in the neighborhood instead of ignoring them like they are doing. As the camera zooms out even more we see that there are four hats right in front of Senor Love Daddy, this shows that he is accepting of all cultures. We also see that the radio station faces the street, this shows that he is always looking at the neighborhood. As we zoom out even more we can see the name of the radio station and it says "We Love". The scene ends when camera zooms out even more and begins to track to the left to show the rest of the neighborhood.

In the next scene the first thing which is noticed is the i

The first shot of the fourth scene starts with a really strong back light and the shades have an red color which make the whole room appear to be red. It also appears to be hazy which shows the there was a filter used for this scene. The camera in the scene is about waist height this is done because the character in the scene is sitting down. All we can see in the first shot is a person doing something. The camera in the next scene stays about the same, we are now behind the person and zooming in, almost as if we were sneaking up on him. We can now see that he is African-American, wearing a Michael Jordan jersey, and is counting a large sum of money. Spike Lee does this so we stereotype the character, he wants us to think that because he is black and has money he is involved in something illegal, but we soon find out that he has a job and is trying to save his money. The next scene shows a close up of a women who is sleeping, the Mookie gets on top of her and tries to wake her up. This shows that Mookie is still very immature, just because he has to wake up and go to work he wants to bother other people around him.

In the first shot of scene three we see a white male with a radio playing speeches of Malcolm X and standing in front of a red brick church handing out pictures. A
