Physical Crucifixion
By taking an in depth view of the exact points of the story concerning Jesus Christ's crucifixion, by examining the physical evidence before and after his crucifixion, and by exploring the differences between the preparation for Jesus' crucifixion compared to other crucifixions of his time, one may arrive at one simple fact about his crucifixion: He did not experience any pain after being placed on the cross. In order to arrive the belief, one must be open-minded to other possibilities and examine Jesus' crucifixion from a medical standpoint. One does not need to set aside any of their religious beliefs, because this opinion does not detract from the belief that Jesus acted as a savior for sinners. Schoenberg, Benard., et al. Anticipatory Grief. New York: Columbia University Press, 1974. One may presume that Jesus was in a slight state of shock by the time was exposed by the betrayal of one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, and arrested on the spot. While, this betrayal cannot be pinpointed as a factor of any kind in this study, because it was predicted by Jesus' himself, it is does, however, trigger a very important reaction among his "friends" who also betray him. The betrayal of numerous friends may have furthered Jesus' anguish. As it is stated in Mathew 26:26 says "Then all the disciples deserted him and fled." One can only imagine the heart feelings Jesus would have probably felt adding to his condition. The cramping of the muscles in this position would have brought even more force upon his arms and legs that were nailed sending radiating pain through out his limbs but there is no record of him experiencing pain at all. Below one can see a detailed display of what was happening internally to Jesus after he was initially nailed and hung on the cross.
